Can you imagine no sports for an entire year?

Neither could author Mathew DeKinder, that was until he took on this monumental task and emerged on the other side in one piece. A life-long fanatic who found himself dedicating nearly every minute of his free time to following sports, DeKinder decided that his obsession had reached an unhealthy level and from August 2006 to August 2007 he abstained completely from the world of sports.

No seats in the bleachers, no ESPN, no fantasy football and no Sunday morning sports page. After missing entire seasons of his favorite sports, including a World Series Championship by his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, DeKinder chronicled the entire ordeal along with a dissection of fan culture in general in the hilarious new book “Wait Till Next Year: A Die-Hard Fan’s Year Without Sports.”

The result is a book that is insightful, surprising, comedic and rewarding. This is a book for all sports fans and the people who love them even when they are ranting and raving at the umpire. It asks the question for all sports fans: “What is wrong with us?” and then finds the answers to be surprisingly encouraging. This book is a sure-fire crowd-pleaser for fans all across the country.
